Patrick the Shepherd (Maewyn Succat)

Born : 387 - 390 at Scotland (Succat : pagan birth name meaning warlike)

Around the age of 16, Patrick was kidnapped from the British mainland and shipped to Ireland as a slave. He was then sent to the mountains as a shepherd, where he spent much of his time in prayer.

After 6 years in the mountains as a shepherd, Patrick dreamt that he was commanded to return to Britain. Seeing this dream as a sign, he escaped. He proceeded to study in continental monasteries becoming a priest then a bishop.
